Tom Middleton live from Cork City on May 23 2008 for the Generic People.

One crazy night in Cork City, Tom was on top of his game once again ripping the roof clean off, with the mental crowd going apeshit to every track, every beat, every time!!

Just listen...this is why Tom Middleton is a true legend!!

Check out www.myspace.com/GenericPeopleCork for video footage of the gig and all the info you need (",)

Tom Middleton has done it all; he is a reknowned DJ, producer and remixer. He was born into music being classically trained in piano and cello from a young age, the man is steeped in music which is evident when he gets behind the ones and twos. His talents as a formidable DJ,& Producer can be seen by the dizzying array of artist albums & ground breaking mix cds that he has compiled.
Having been a DJ since 1988 when house music took over. There is not much he has not seen or not been involved in the music world. A chance encounter whilst clubbing in 1989 with the Aphex Twin Richard D James led to his arrival on the production scene. He has released under too many monikers to mention them all, pseudonyms, include Global Communication , Jedi Knights and Chameleon.
Some of Tom’s musical landmarks have included
• Global Communication's 1994 ambient album 76:14 is widely considered to be a landmark of the genre.
• The sound of the cosmos (2002) voted into the top ten mix cds by Muzik
• The Trip 1 and 2(2004) (2006)
• His Crazy Covers series
• Life Tracks(2007)
• Renaissance 3D
The last twelve monthshave seen an increasing demand on Tom’s time and has seen the release of LIFETRACKS an album ten years in the making. Summer 2007 saw him taking up the Manumission residency in Privelege . Tom rocked the world’s largest club throughout the summer and with typical aplomb litreally blew the place apart with his eclectic sets that for many revitalised an eclecticism and reinvigoration of what the islands original vibe was all about.
His current tour sees him promoting a triple mix cd release for Renaissance which has taken in cities from Tokyo to Hong Kong to Cork City.

Arveene

Without a doubt he is currently Irelands most talented DJ/Producer. Arveene has been playing in Dublin clubs and beyond since his was 16 years of age and has now blossomed into to a tour de force when it comes to DJ performance. The only DJ who gets asked time and time again to play DURR at The End in London which is run by the ex T*H*R*A*S*H mob, it is viewed by many in the indie and dance space as the tastemakers club where you can break new bands, he recently had the privilege of playing before and after Soulwax when they hosted a surprise night at the club. He has spent the last year travelling the world and working on some truly fresh music with his studio partner Misk. The boys make tracks that have a certain knack of filling the dance floor with slick, stylish production and banging grooves, things have been building very nicely since their first official remix of Husky Rescues ?Shadow run? on Catskills hit the shelves, loads of UK and international peeps got behind this re-work right from the off. The infamous Rage against the Machine bootleg is now an official release on UK white label and its getting more people down with the A + M styles. Other acts that have got the remix treatment this year include Yo Majesty (USA), Director (IRL), Fil OK of Nag, Nag, Nag (UK) and Underwater artist Majik Johnson. Arveene continues travelling the world to spread love on the decks from London to Manchester and Bristol to Berlin.

This is the first episode in a new series of podcasts in which we will be show casing some of the finest DJ and Producer talents comming out of the musical hot bed that is CORK CITY.

Iain Mulcahy – November 2007

Thanks for taking time to listen to this mix. This really sums up my sound over the past year or so. The mix starts off with a minimal techno sound that’s popular at the moment, and then it steps up a gear with a few tech house tunes, while finishing up with a more housey feel with 2 tracks from the excellent Urban Torque label, definitely one of the labels of the year.

I compiled the mix on 2 CDJ 1000s and 2 technics 1210 Mk5s.

Hope you enjoy,

Iain
